I've owned so many highlighters over the past few years: liquid, powder, cream-like, and wax-based. I even wrote a huge post on the Types of Highlighters, which should be useful for every one of you who wants to know more about this makeup product. Still, I feel like going further with a highlighter, continuing to test new brands and new ways of wearing them. And let me introduce you to the Holo Wow! Sparkle Stick — yet another highlighter in my makeup arsenal. Interested? Then keep reading to find out more about it.

Holo Wow! Sparkle Stick is a paraffin-based highlighter by the affordable makeup brand Essence, which is based in Germany. This brand is very popular in Europe and is sold in various drug and beauty stores. Essence brand mostly produces cosmetics, but there are a few skincare products available as well.

I'm a big fan of all things Essence. I believe my previous reviews and makeup tests can prove my dedication to the brand. So, when I received the Sparkle Stick, I couldn't hide my excitement away, as it was the first highlighter by Essence I was lucky to put my hand on. And let's all admit the fact that it is too cute to pass by!

The highlighting stick comes in adorable twistable packaging. It doesn't take up too much space in the makeup kit and is very convenient to use. You won't need any brushes or sponges for application. Just twist the highlighter like a pencil or lipstick, and apply it directly to the skin. The product has no artificial fragrance, just a faintly discernible scent of the paraffin itself.

The color I have is called 10. Sparkles In Your Life is the only shade available on the official Essence website at this time. It is a peachy-gold color with a frosty finish and fine reflective particles. And, of course, the particles are holographic, which means they reflect the rainbows. As I mentioned before, the highlighter is based on paraffin — a waxy substance with a thick consistency. It is not as subtle as cream or liquid consistency and for a better finish, you'll need to smudge the product with your finger.

At the end of my review, I would like to mention the affordable price of the Sparkle Stick. It costs around 1.01 EUR for 6 g./0.2 oz. of the product. The affordability of the Holo Wow! Sparkle Stick makes it a perfect dupe for such high-end highlighters as Fenty Beauty Shimmer Skinstick, Clinique Chubby Stick, and many others. So, if you are looking for something similar that won't break your budget, this product will be a great alternative. And what are your thoughts?

Lots of love,
Liz
