At the end of a long, stuffy summer day, there is nothing better than washing off all your makeup, toning your skin with a refreshing breeze, and putting on a fresh hydrogel mask on tired skin. Am I right? Today's review will focus on a brand-new face mask by our favorite Korean beauty brand, Elizavecca. It is cute, it is hydrating, and it is full of collagen. Let's try it out?

About Elizavecca Botanitch Hydrogel Collagen Mask Pack

The Elizavecca Botanitch Hydrogel Collagen Mask Pack* is a brand-new addition to the Elizavecca family that offers a refreshing and intensely hydrating experience. Packed with firming and hydrating ingredients, it is meant to refresh the skin, deeply moisturize it, and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Elizavecca recommends pairing it with a Marine Collagen ampoule, but I believe you can combine it with any other toner or serum from your skincare collection.

  • Where to buy?

You can purchase a pack of four hydrogel masks on the official Elizavecca website or find them on Amazon.

Packaging:

Of course, it wouldn't be an Elizavecca review without mentioning the beauty of the packaging! Four hydrogel masks are packed in aluminum foil envelopes that feature a girl with a long, ginger mane. I believe this is the same girl you find on Elizavecca hair products. But what does she do? She is brewing a collagen-rich potion in a big blue cauldron. The four masks are housed in a similar cardboard box that looks like a grimoire or a book of spells. Unfortunately, mine came slightly ripped, but it is still fun and creative.

Texture and Scent:

Once you open a pack with a mask, you feel the burst of soft and sweet scent. It is creamy, mild, and very pleasant. The hydrogel mask consists of two separate parts (top and bottom) for easier application. The gel is very soft and gentle. Additionally, it is soaked in hydrating serum, which makes the texture of the mask even more fragile.

The application wasn't very easy. The mask comes attached to another very thin plastic film, which is supposed to be there for hygiene purposes. You apply the mask onto your face, supporting it on the plastic film, but it isn't very comfortable. I simply removed it from the plastic and adjusted the mask on my face. But the good thing is that you can slightly stretch the corners of the mask, further adjusting it to cover the skin. It would be really cool if Elizavecca added a third part of the mask for the neck area!

Ingredients:

Now for the hero ingredients you'll get with each application! One of the main – Glycerin – our favorite humectant that keeps the skin hydrated and supple. Then you'll find the extract form of Irish Moss. Like the powder, it's used for its gelling and thickening properties, but also for its skin-conditioning benefits, as it contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This ingredient forms a protective layer on the skin. Your skin will also experience the power of:

  • Panthenol: Also known as Pro-Vitamin B5, panthenol is an excellent humectant and emollient. It helps to soothe, moisturize, and repair the skin barrier, promoting healing and reducing irritation.
  • Shea Butter: Extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, this butter is a rich, highly moisturizing emollient, known for its skin-softening, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties. Shea butter is a frequent guest in Elizavecca's formulations
  • Niacinamide: A truly multifaceted ingredient, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) offers a wide array of skin benefits. It works to enhance elasticity, refine the look of pores, unify skin tone, bolster the skin's natural barrier, and diminish inflammation.
  • Collagen Water: This likely refers to water infused with collagen, or a very dilute form of collagen. While topical collagen is too large to be absorbed into the skin to replace lost collagen, it can act as a humectant, providing hydration and a temporary plumping effect.
  • Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid: It is a form of hyaluronic acid that has been broken down into smaller fragments. This reduced size allows it to penetrate deeper into the skin's layers, providing deeper hydration and a boost of elasticity. Paula's Choice states that the smaller Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid doesn't automatically mean it is better than regular Hyaluronic Acid; it simply works differently.

How to Use Botanitch Hydrogel Mask?

  • Step #1: Prepare Your Skin
Begin with a clean and toned face. It's crucial to remove all makeup and impurities so the mask's essence can penetrate effectively. After cleansing, apply a toner to balance your skin's pH and prepare it for the mask.

  • Step #2: Open the Packaging and Apply
Tear open the mask's pouch carefully. Inside, you will find the two pieces of the hydrogel mask folded between two protective films. Unwrap the little treasures and adhere them to the face. Press down lightly with your fingertips to ensure the mask is applied smoothly and without any air bubbles. The hydrogel is pretty delicate, so be careful not to tear it.

  • Step #3: Relax and Let the Mask Work
For best results, leave the mask on for 20 to 30 minutes. This gives the hydrogel enough time to gradually release its essence and beneficial ingredients, allowing your skin to fully absorb the hydration. The mask stayed cool on the skin for the whole time it was on. Fantastic!

My Experience With the New Botanitch Hydrogel Mask by Elizavecca

Once I opened the little pack with the mask, the sweet and dainty scent of the moisturizing serum filled my lungs. As I mentioned before, the mask is soaked in this nourishing serum, which makes the hydrogel even softer and more pliable on the skin. The mask is easily adjustable, and I reused the cutout pieces for the eyes and lips by applying them under my eyes and onto my lips!

The skin felt refreshed, smooth, and so hydrated afterward. The results also last for quite some time. If you pair the mask with exfoliation and a hydrating moisturizer, you'll be able to enjoy wholesome results after one session.

Final Verdict…

Hydration: 👍👍👍👎(10/10)
Texture: 👍👍👍👎(8/10)
Overall: 👍👍👍👎 (9/10)

Perhaps the best feature of a hydrogel mask is its smooth, non-woven surface. Unlike some traditional sheet masks with a fibrous or cotton texture, the hydrogel material is less likely to cause friction or irritation, making it an excellent choice for sensitive skin types. Additionally, the mask provides a long-lasting cooling sensation, which can be incredibly soothing for the skin. It is simply a must-have for summer skincare!

Shea butter, when paired with niacinamide and glycerin, does wonders for the skin. Together, they smooth, improve elasticity, and refine the appearance of pores (with consistent use, of course). This is exactly what my skin needs right now. The addition of Irish moss, which is tightly packed with vitamins and nutrients, helps the skin to retain all of those nutrients and moisture deeply in the tissues.

The Elizavecca Botanitch Hydrogel Mask is a great fit for anyone with dry and sensitive skin. If you need a serious boost of hydration, this mask delivers it in just 20 minutes. It's also perfect for soothing hot, tired skin after a long day, providing a low-key at-home spa sensation. Want your skin to look younger and makeup to go on more evenly? A quick pre-makeup application and you are good to go!
