#2. New River Gorge, West Virginia

The 73,000-acre stretch of the rugged canyon offers a captivating human history fully filled with railroad tycoons and mines. It’s got an even more exciting geological history since the New River is usually thought to be among the world’s oldest rivers in the entire world.
