woman's hand holding Balea Hand Cream Q10

Winter is the perfect time to switch your everyday face, body, and hand moisturizer to something a bit thicker and more nourishing. This is especially true for those whose skin gets rough and dry during the colder seasons. As someone with super-dry hands and lips, I always opt for natural vegetable oil-based skincare products – they hydrate and nourish like no other!

For today's review, I'm testing Balea's Q10 Hand Cream with apricot kernel oil and sun protection factor 15. This drugstore gem is a perfect cold-weather hand cream for pampering dry hands without breaking the bank. Its rich formula deeply nourishes and protects chapped skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth all season long.

About Balea Hand Creme Q10

But, before diving in, let me say a few words about the brand and the cream. Balea is a budget-friendly brand popular throughout the whole of Europe. Balea produces everything from affordable makeup brushes and eye pads to hair masks and bath salts. Simply saying, everyone can find something dear to their body and soul.

Balea's hand cream Q10 (aka Handcreme Q10 mit Aprikosenöl und LSF15) is part of a skincare line that includes anti-wrinkle face moisturizers, body lotions, face masks and serum, and even a men's skincare product. All of them are infused with my favorite apricot kernel oil and other beneficial ingredients for the skin.

  • Packaging

The packaging is simple and functional, there is not much to say about it. Balea's hand cream comes in your standard squeezable tube with 100 ml (around 3.9 oz) of the product. The design is an eye-catcher – bright yellow and white colors additionally featuring a yummy slice of an apricot.

  • Texture & Scent

The texture of the hand cream is rich and thick.  It's a far cry from your standard, summer-ready featherweight that melts onto the skin like water. This is a hardcore hand moisturizer, specifically formulated for dry skin. And I like it! While browsing the official Balea website, I came across a single negative review mentioning the cream's rich texture as a downside. However, I personally disagree. In my experience, the cream absorbs quickly and leaves no residue behind.

The scent on the other hand is not heavy at all. It is soft, sweet, and very pleasant to the nose. It definitely smells like an apricot and chantilly. The scent also stays on the skin for quite some time, making your body care routine a ritual you are looking forward to.

  • Ingredients

Enough about the packaging, texture, and yummy scent. It is time to meet and greet the best part about the Q10 hand cream by Balea – its ingredients. One of the most interesting among them is the apricot kernel oil also known as prunus armeniaca kernel oil. This vegetable oil is rich in vitamins A (retinol), vitamin E, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and fatty acids. In skincare, apricot oil is used as an emollient and skin-conditioning agent, that smoothes and moisturizes skin.

How to Use Hand Cream by Balea?

  • Step #1: Cleanse Your Hands

Before applying the hand cream, ensure your hands are clean and dry. Wash them thoroughly with soap and water, then pat them dry with a clean towel.

  • Step #2: Take a Tiny Amount of Cream

Squeeze a small amount of Balea hand cream onto the back of your hand or directly onto your palms. A pea-sized amount is usually sufficient.

  • Step #3: Rub the Cream Between Your Hands

Rub the cream on your hands and between the fingers to distribute it evenly. Start by applying it to the back of your hands, and then gently massage it into your palms and fingers. Ensure you cover your fingertips and nails as well.

  • Step #4: Focus on Dry Areas

Pay extra attention to areas that tend to get drier, such as knuckles and cuticles. Massage the cream into these areas with gentle, circular motions.

  • Step #5: Allow the Cream to Absorb

Let the hand cream absorb into your skin for a few minutes. Avoid touching surfaces immediately to allow the product to work effectively.

  • Step #6: Reapply as Needed

Depending on the level of dryness, you may need to reapply the hand cream throughout the day, especially after washing your hands or exposure to harsh elements.

Final Verdict

And now, for the final thought on the hand cream. I really love the balance Balea brings between the price range and skincare benefits. I believe this hand moisturizer is perfect for the wintertime: it is a wonderful holiday stocking stuffer, a personal gift to yourself, or a daily to-go cream for dry and super-dry hands.

Lots of love,
Liz
