  • About the Product

So, let's take a closer look at Cooling Under Eye Patches by NYX Cosmetics! They were inspired by cryotherapy (aka cold therapy) – a popular treatment used in skincare that involves a local application of low temperatures. So, you can consider these a low-key anti-aging technique, that you can use at home!

Reusable eye patches are made with silicone, and packed in two pad-shaped petals, which you can place under your eyes. They are meant to de-puff tired eyes and reduce the appearance of dark circles and wrinkles under the eyes.

  • Packaging

Patches by NYX come securely packed in a resealable plastic pouch with a silver zipper closure. The closure is very tight, so no bacteria will reach your silicone patches. However, you need to make sure to clean the patches before storing them away in the refrigerator.

How to Use Cooling Under Eye Patches?

First, chill the patches in the fridge, or cool them down in cold water for at least 20 minutes. Tilt your head back, and adhere the silicone patches to your freshly cleaned skin. Allow them to work their refreshing magic for 5-10 minutes while you relax. You can combine this cryotherapy-inspired treatment with a refreshing under-eye cream or gel.

When your skin feels chill enough, remove the patches and cleanse them with some gentle soap and water.  Air or towel dry, and store patches in the original poach packaging.

Final Verdict...

Overall, I have mixed feelings about this product. On the one hand, the idea is great! Patches are small and easy to use, you can even use them on the go. On the other hand – cooling patches don't stay in place, they tend to slide off the under-eye area, moving toward the cheeks. So, you are basically stuck laying down for this 5 or 15 minutes, while patches cool your skin.

Another thing I dislike about them is how thick they are. I wish these cryo patches could be made thinner. I believe being thinner would allow them to adhere to the skin better and prevent them from moving around so much, which is uncomfortable. Reusable patches by NYX truly refresh and cool the area under the eyes, but I feel like they could work even better if they had a slightly different design.

Ultimately, whether these patches become a staple in your skincare routine depends on your individual needs and expectations. If you're seeking a budget-friendly way to add a touch of coolness and hydration to your under-eye routine, they might be worth a try. But if you're expecting dramatic depuffing or dark circle disappearance, you might need to keep searching for another cryo holy grail.
