Vitamin C has taken the skincare world by storm, lauded for its multifaceted benefits. From brightening dull complexions and fading hyperpigmentation to stimulating collagen production and fighting free radicals, it's no wonder it's become a must-have for many skincare enthusiasts.

So, if you are looking for an effective, yet effortless way to combat dullness, you may want to add the Real 1 Vitamin C Toner by my favorite K-beauty brand Elizavecca to your morning routine. In this review, we'll delve into the details of this product, exploring its claims and ingredients to help you decide if it's the right fit for your skin.

About Vitamin C Toner by Elizavecca

The Real1 10% Vitamin C Toner* is a multi-purpose mist toner that is formulated with 10% Vitamin C to help brighten and revitalize the skin. It is also claimed to help hydrate the skin, balance its pH level, and relieve signs of fatigue. This is the key ingredient in the toner, and it is known to help brighten the skin, reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and protect the skin from sun damage.

  • Packaging

Toner comes in a see-through plastic spray bottle. The minimalistic design sets this product apart from other Elizavecca skincare products. Well, I hope they will keep their cute, piggy-inspired labels and boxes for future releases! Vitamin C can be quite an unstable skincare ingredient with a tendency to oxidize. So, I would recommend you to keep this spray bottle in its original cardboard box, so that the light can't reach your skin-brightening potion.

  • Texture and scent

The toner is so pretty! Hot and bright orange-hued water with a sweet tangerine-like scent. Very tasty! Once sprayed and settled, the toner has a mild stickiness to it, but it disappears once you apply your favorite moisturizer to seal the toner.

  • Ingredients

The best part about Elizavecca skincare products is the formulation! So, let's take a closer look at the ingredient list. Real One Toner is based on purified water and 10% Ascorbic Acid also known as Vitamic C. This is an active form of Vitamin C, which means it can be unstable and irritate the skin. There should be a special approach to using active Vitamin C in your skincare, especially if you have sensitive skin.

The product also includes Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, used in skincare because of its antioxidant properties, followed by Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract. This powerful antibacterial ingredient is traditionally used for wound healing.

Glycerin is also used in Real One Vitamin C Toner. It is a super-popular skincare ingredient that draws moisture and locks it in. One of the most peculiar ingredients in this toner is Curcuma Longa aka Turmeric. That's why toner has its distinctive yellowish color! Like Vitamin C, turmeric improves skin tone, smoothing discolorations and small skin tone irregularities.

5 Powerful Benefits of Vitamin C Toner for Glowing Skin

  • Brightens the Skin:

Vitamin C inhibits melanin production, therefore it brightens up the skin. Melanin is a pigment that is responsible for dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Regular use of a Vitamin C toner can help fade dark spots, even out skin tone, and promote a brighter complexion.

  • Antioxidant Protection:

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that helps protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals can result from exposure to environmental stressors like pollution and UV rays. By neutralizing these free radicals, Vitamin C toner helps prevent premature aging and supports the skin's natural defense mechanisms.

  • Collagen Synthesis:

Vitamin C is crucial for collagen synthesis and maintaining skin youthfulness, elasticity, and firmness. Dermatologist Shereene Idriss in one of her YouTube videos states that Vitamin C not only helps to boost collagen but also prevents collagen from breaking down prematurely. And, as we all know, collagen is a structural protein that provides support to the skin.

  • Hydration and Moisture Retention:

Vitamin C toners often contain additional hydrating ingredients that can help the skin retain moisture. Hydrated skin appears plump, smooth, and radiant. By incorporating a Vitamin C toner into your skincare routine, you can enhance your skin's hydration levels for a healthier and more vibrant look.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties:

Struggling with skin redness? Then you should definitely incorporate Vitamin C into your routine, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Ascorbic acid is known to soothe irritated skin and help with redness. This makes it beneficial for individuals with sensitive or inflamed skin conditions, such as rosacea. Regular use of a Vitamin C toner may contribute to a calmer complexion.

How to Use Vitamin C Toner?

Before applying Vitamin C toner, cleanse your face and neck with soap or gel suitable for your skin type. This removes dirt, oil, and makeup, allowing the toner to penetrate better. Make sure to apply Vitamin C toner on dry skin, because we don't want to dilute our active ingredient! Now, it is time to apply our Vitamin C toner, there are two ways to do this depending on the product:

Cotton pad: Apply a small toner to a clean cotton pad. Softly, without any extra pressure, wipe the pad all over your face and neck, avoiding the under-eye area.

• Spray bottle: If your toner comes in a spray bottle, mist it directly onto your face, keeping your eyes closed. Gently pat it with your fingers into your skin.

Allow the toner to air dry for a few seconds before applying your next skincare products. After the toner dries, apply a moisturizer suitable for your skin type. This helps lock in the toner's benefits and keeps your skin hydrated. I like to follow the Real 1 Vitamin C Toner with Elizavecca Eye Want Cream, for that beautiful glass-skin glow.

Use your vitamin C toner once or twice a day, depending on the product's instructions and your skin's sensitivity. And, remember about the sunscreen. Dr. Shereene Idriss says that Vitamin C can boost your sunscreen, so use them together to shield your skin.

  • Can You Use Vitamin C Together With Retinoids?

I use retinol moisturizer five if not all seven times a week, therefore it was important for me to know if I could mix these two powerful skincare ingredients together. In the video "Skincare Ingredients You CAN'T Mix?!" by the YouTube channel Doctorly, Dr. Shah and Dr. Maxfield state that mixing retinoid with vitamin C may cause irritation, as both of these ingredients are quite harsh on the skin. But, there is no chemical reason, why you can't use them together! Both ingredients are quite unstable, but they are totally mixable if your skin can handle them both. Make sure to do a sensitivity test!

Final Verdict

I don't know how it works, but the morning after the first application of the Real1 10% Vitamin C Toner by Elizavecca I saw the first, visible results. My skin was hydrated, plump, and glowing! One application is not enough to see brighten-up skin and reduced pigmentation, but your skin will definitely feel better. I promise you this! I have some discoloration around my mouth and nose area, so that's what I'm looking forward to improving. Hopefully, regular usage will improve these discolorations.

What would I change about this product? I would pack it in a darker, stained bottle so that the light can't prematurely spoil ascorbic acid. The spray bottle itself could be a bit better, as every time I use this toner, it gets kind of messy. Everything else seems to be AMAZING! It hydrates, it plumps, it boosts and it is simply great!
