The fall season is one of the most enchanting and charming times of the year. It is a wonderful time, when leaves on the trees change into their multi-colored dresses, slowly preparing for long winter sleep. Fashionistas and makeup enthusiasts are also getting prepared to embrace chilly weather. You won't find a better time for a little wardrobe de-clutter and makeup stash upgrade.
Today, I want to sum up the most exciting and roaring fall makeup trends, seen on the runway shows in New York, London, and Paris. From bold red lipstick to dusty smoky eyes and Swarovski embellishments, these are the top makeup trends you definitely need to try out this fall season.
"American Gothic goes to the Southwest."
Haunting, Smoldering Smoky
I want to start with my personal favorite fall 2018 makeup trend: a dusty smoky eye. This makeup look is the most classic and iconic, but it is just as good as new. Inspired by American pop culture and The Blair Witch Project movie, creative director Stuart Vevers took the runway show to the forest and dressed his models like glamorous witches. A warm earth-toned smokey eye, emerald, silver, blended gray shades, and smudged eyeliner is a perfect complement for this witchcraft aesthetic, Emporio Armani, Tom Ford, and Carolina Herrera proved this once again.
Ripe Seductive Lips
Our favorite bold lipstick was spotted at Jonathan Simkhai, Cushnie Et Ochs, and Brandon Maxwell's show, only this time Maxwell added a little twist to the classics. He used a true red lipstick and dusted the cupid's bow with a gold highlighter, keeping the whole makeup look simple and natural. But you shouldn't limit your fall makeup look only with true red lipstick, try out the whole range of autumnal colors. Burgundy, currant, ruby, terracotta, and rose — there are shades for every mood of the week.
"You really don't need to wear any make-up most of the time; keep your eyebrows the way they are, and find your own natural beauty signature." Erin Heatherton
Bushy Eyebrows
This fall season will be all about female strength and women's empowerment, so you shouldn't be afraid to show off your natural beauty. Alexander Wang's models were wearing minimalist makeup look: natural eyes, nude lips, and gorgeous bushy eyebrows. Unlike Alexander Wang, Noon by Noor added some vibrant colors to the eyelids, but also kept the wild eyebrows trend.
Swarovski Crystals
If diamonds are a girl's best friend then Swarovski crystals are the makeup artist's best friend. In my opinion, crystals are the best alternative for glitter, plus you can use them more than once if you wear your crystals carefully. At Kate Spade's fall, 2018 show sparkly Swarovski was placed randomly all over the models' upper eyelids. "Millennial Dolly Parton", is how she described this makeup look.
Pastel Colors Vs. Precious Jewels
This fall season we are going to see a major battle between pastel colors — blue, pink, and lavender and intense gem tones — emerald, amethyst, and smoky topaz. Models at the Au Jour Le Jour, Elisabetta Franchi, and Bora Aksu show wore soft pastel shades on their eyelids and looked innocent, while Naeem Khan, Carmen Mark Valvo, and Anna Sui girls looked smoking hot with gemstone shades on their eyes. Which one do we like more? Hard to tell, soft baby shades are perfect for the last warm fall days and the jewel colors will look gorgeous when the weather will get cold.
We never know, what the future has prepared for us, but we should be ready for any unexpected fashion move. I'm in love with the dusty smoky eye and burgundy lips. Let me know what is your favorite fall 2018 makeup trend you will definitely wear this season and what is your least favorite trend. I'm excited to know your opinion guys! Thank you very much for reading my post, I hope it was somehow useful to you. Until next time!
Lots of love, Liz
