On her wedding day, Princess Diana was bathed in a classic floral scent by Parisian perfume house Houbigant. This iconic fragrance featured citrus and woody notes and definitely played an important role in her life. Marilyn Monroe always went to bed nude, except for a few drops of her favorite Chanel No. 5 and her love for this powdery scent created another icon in the perfume world.

Ideally, your signature fragrance must emphasize your unique style, gently threading the interior and exterior sides of your nature. But saying yes to that one fragrance is not that simple, especially if you are not sure what you like and what kind of impression you want to make on people. As you may have guessed already, I have started a new beauty quest, probably the hardest and the most intimate – a quest for a signature fragrance. My other attempt is Hot Couture – an oriental perfume by the Givenchy fashion house.

About the Hot Couture Perfume by Givenchy

This fragrance was released 19 years ago (in the year 2000) by perfumers Alberto Morillas and Jacques Cavallier, dedicated to the perfection of a woman's body and her elegance. The sturdy cardboard packaging and the bottle feature an image of a black and gold clothing label with the name on it. Although some aesthetes prefer an older design with a woman's figure over the new one, I really like its class and simplicity.

The definition of couture, Hot Couture enhances a woman's body like a Haute Couture creation... Wear it lavishly.

  • Fragrance Composition and Notes

Top Hot Couture's notes are citrus, raspberries, and bergamot, the middle notes hold the floral lightness of magnolia and bitterness of vetiver, and the base note is composed of classic musk and sandalwood. Can I describe this scent as hot and sexy? No, I don't feel the suggestive and provocative vibe. To me, this perfume is well-balanced but definitely alluring, but not in a vulgar way. It is sweet, cozy, and warm.

The versatility of this perfume allows you to wear it during the hot days and cooler evenings, on any occasion and time of the year. I feel that Hot Couture could handle both the formal atmosphere and the romantic tension, that's how multi-functional is the composition of this scent.

Maybe for some people, this perfume may feel too old-fashioned, 19 years is a long period, especially in the world of fast fashion and changing trends. But I still think it has a right to occupy the space in my drawer. Is this scent the one? I guess not, but I still find it memorable and luxurious.

  • Longevity

On my skin it lasts a good five hours, leaving a veil of delicious base notes on the clothes and hair. Isn't it a good perfume performance? Final Thoughts...

Despite all of the obstacles and personal puzzles I still have to resolve, I have started a new quest in my life—a hunt for my personal signature scent. Will it be as sexy, romantic, or nontrivial? I'm not sure, but what I know is that it will be eternal love from the first sniff. And what about you, lovelies? Do you have your favorite signature scent? Please, let me know the name, I want to try it!

Lots of love,
Liz
